Night At The Museum

My officemate Yvette and I agreed to watch 2 movies last Saturday (February 3, 2007). A day before, we agreed to meet at Greenbelt in Makati as that day falls on a non-working Saturday. At around 11:30 I got a text from her telling me she was at the meeting place already. I arrived late and she was almost finished with her lunch of Beef with Mushroom and Shrimp in Butter at Good Earth (ohm yummy). The food was good and the place is cozy too but the food quite expensive. I suppose it’s because of the ambiance. We bought 2 tickets at Greenbelt 4 Cinema for the 2:30 screening of Night At The Museum. Since she was able to finish lunch around 1:00 P.M., we decided to roam around Greenbelt. We passed by Tower 1 and PowerBooks. She bought Jed Madela’s new CD at Tower 1. Anyway we also watched “Stranger Than Fiction” at Glorietta 4 right after. Please read on my reviews for the two movies.

Ben Stiller plays Larry Daley in this movie a mild manner divorced dad in the verge of losing his son. He was an inventor and dreamer who just can’t seem to hold down a job. Although, he considers beneath him, he reluctantly accepts what appears to be a menial job as graveyard-shift security guard at a museum of natural history. During Larry’s watch extraordinary things begin to occur: Mayans, Roman gladiators, and cowboys emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles; in his quest for fire a caveman burns down his own display; Attila the Hun pillages his neighboring exhibits, and a T-Rex reminds everyone why he’s history’s fiercest predator. Amid the chaos, the only person Larry can turn to for advice is a wax figure of President Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams).

Full of laughs, decent special effects and with a cast including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais, this is a movie's guaranteed to lift anyone’s spirits.

Sure, Night At The Museum isn’t about to win any awards for originality, but this is a flick that exhibits a fine sense of fun. It’s a great comedy.

If you want some fun, go see this movie a breathe of fresh air from violent movies. It’s a great family comedy that’s funny for kids and adults.
