My New Adventure
There’s no new adventure’s that I would like you all to know, it’s just that I call it my new adventure in life. Just this morning I came from my new adventure, signing and accepting Hewlett Packard (HP) Philippines Job Offer. I can’t wait to start my post with their company. I am quite excited about the offer. It all started when I saw their vacancy post @ the Jobstreet website. I submitted my application without me expecting that I will be called for an interview. But I was praying of course that I will be short-listed, of course all applicants do the same. After around 2 weeks I got a call from one of their Recruitment Staff informing me that I am scheduled for interview @ their office in Ortigas. I started praying again that the good Lord guide me and give me light so I can answer all the questions they would asked during the interview. Three days before the scheduled interview they sent supplemental questions an essay type of questions for the applicant to answer. I submitted the said form the day before my interview, as this was the instruction written in the email. I arrived early on my interview day as I thought I still have to undergo series of interviews and exams as well. However, I only have panel interview with the Team Leaders of the Technology Solutions Group where I will be assigned. My last and final interview was with the Project Manager and this was done a week after my panel interview with the Team Leaders. My interviewer said that I should expect a call later of that week or early of the following week. Since I was interviewed Tuesday of course I was expecting that they would give me the feedback at least on weekend. I really prayed for this job. I had an interview with another company Saturday after my interview with HP and that company is also considering my application. I was turned between HP and the other company. So I went to Baclaran Church on Wednesday again to ask our Blessed Mother to guide me on my decision. I choose HP not for the value of money but for the other benefits included in the package. I was offered a good package, enough for me to decide to leave my current employer. My would be superior wanted me to board on March 1 however, since I have yet to file my resignation letter with my current employer I asked to allow me to undergo the 30 days transition period. Besides I still have to figure out how I am going to tell my superior and my team that I will be leaving. No one among the team not even my closest officemate is aware that my weekly under time and authorized absences were spent attending interviews at HP. Do I have to feel guilty about this? Of course not, I am not the only one who did these things.
Once on board I will be undergoing 2 days orientation at Makati office and another 3 days orientation at the Technology Information Group. They said I will be provided with a laptop (HP of course) and probably DSL connection at home so I can work remotely. I’ve been to different industries from the different companies that I worked with but I am still having butterfly in my stomach with the thought of this new endeavor. A new adventure and a new beginning. Is it just I, or there are other people who are anxious of leaving the job you had been accustomed of doing? I love my job with my current employer it’s just that something good things never last. We have shared some misunderstanding too, who else did not; besides, there’s no perfect relationship only perfect time. I know I will miss my colleagues here. I adjusted to their system already and I learned to love my officemates too. For sure, I will miss the sunset view from our office window. On a sunny day you will see me always taking pictures of the sun. I know I will be missing my pastime and my photography will be put on hold the moment I am on board at HP. I am sure my schedule will be grueling and will require a great amount of discipline, especially in the beginning. However… the rewards hold enormous possibility. I just hope and pray that HP would be my last employer
